With a strong commitment to professionalism and attention to detail, we specialize in creating one-of-a-kind spaces that are both visually stunning and functional.
A native Texan and a proud graduate of Texas A&M University’s School of Architecture, Kathy Towns has always had a passion for design. After earning her degree, she spent several years working in the commercial architectural sector, where she honed her skills in creating detailed drawings, coordinating with engineers and contractors, and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations. Kathy’s experience includes significant contributions to large-scale commercial projects across Texas, during her time at Tittle Luther Partnership in Abilene and STG Architects in Austin.
In 2005, Kathy’s life took a new direction when her family moved to La Vernia, Texas, due to her husband’s Air Force career. With a growing young family and the need for a more flexible career, she began seeking opportunities that would allow her to capitalize on her architectural expertise while maintaining a work-life balance. The Wilson County area was experiencing a residential boom, creating a demand for fresh ideas and well-thought-out house plans. Recognizing this need, Kathy launched Hot Tin Roof Custom Home Design in 2007. Her goal was to bring innovative and practical design solutions to the growing community, and she has since become a trusted name in residential architecture. Kathy’s commitment to quality and her deep understanding of architectural principles have made her a sought-after designer in the region.
In 2021, Kathy Towns welcomed her daughter and business partner, Madison Grubb, to Hot Tin Roof Custom Home Design as the lead designer and interior specialist. Madison brings a new level of talent and professionalism to the business, building on the strong foundation her mother established. A fellow architectural graduate, Madison earned her degree from the College of Architecture at the University of Texas at San Antonio, further solidifying her commitment to the field.
Madison’s experience in the commercial architectural realm has been instrumental in the continued success of the business. Before joining Hot Tin Roof, she sharpened her skills at Studio8 Architects and Interiors in San Antonio and remotely while living in Houston, where she gained valuable insights and wide ranging abilities. Her background in managing large-scale commercial projects, from design to completion, has provided her with a deep understanding of the complexities of architectural work.
Madison is not only a skilled designer but also an experienced project manager. Her passion for design is evident in her meticulous attention to detail, and her ability to meet deadlines has made her an invaluable asset to the team. Madison’s dedication and expertise continue to drive the business forward, ensuring that Hot Tin Roof Custom Home Design remains at the forefront of residential architecture in the region.
